Please note that for the 2011-12 school year, Act One will not be offering a formal workshop series due to the number of regular classes and special events scheduled to run during the year. We may from time to time present a select few workshops or partner with other professionals to bring additional opportunities to the Durham Region.

Act One's school philosophy is to help expose young performers to as many different appraoches and perspectives on performing, both for their own personal growth and for potential longer term career goals. For those seriously seeking to explore acting as a professional option, it is our belief that actors in general will benefit from any opportunity to broaden their knowledge and understanding of how the industry works and what it looks for in younger performers.
As part of this commitment, we are happy to host the following workshop in February 2012.

Lights, Camera, Career

Workshop Description:
This weekend workshop has proved to be very popular with participants....their parents AND talent agents. This is a fast paced weekend workshop that challenges, informs and gives the participants a real step up in understanding the technical aspects of working on camera and how to be more successful in their auditions. Students will have an opportunity to work on camera a minimum of three times over the course of the weekend. They will work with short one line scenes we do as ‘cold read’, commercial copy and long form scenes. Commercial copy and scenes from long form will be sent to registered students PRIOR to the weekend. All students will receive a dvd copy of their performance from the weekend that will be sent to them via post after the event, along with a personal assessment note from Ron and Brian.
