Canadian Actor's Equity Association

Canadian Actors' Equity Association is the professional association of performers, directors, choreographers, fight directors and stage managers in English Canada engaged in live performance in theatre, opera and dance.
Equity's main focus is to negotiate and administer collective agreements, provide benefit plans, information and support, and act as an advocate for its membership. |

Playwrights Guild of Canada

National, non-profit association of professional Canadian playwrights. representing approximately 350 members and source for more than 2,000 Canadian plays, Including the works of Norm Foster, David French, etc. It is a valuable source of Canadian theatre and includes an on-line searchable index to facilitate in the locating of plays to meet a variety of performance goals. |

Toronto-based retail and on-line store. Excellent source of English plays from Canada and around the world. TheatreBooks stocks and sells plays from Dramatists Play Service, Dramatic Publishing Co. and Samuel French, and the leading play publishers in Great Britain. It carrys books on all aspects of theatre production, as well as opera and dance, as well as all aspects of film and filmmaking. Probably the best single general purpose theatrical reference source in the GTA. |
Samuel French

The official play-publishing house for the majority of mainstream and commercial plays published every year (thought Playwrights Guild above generally is more representative of Canadian material). The source of most well-known plays from British and American playwrights such as Ray Cooney and Neil Simon. Has an on-line searchable index for its library of plays. Important note: Please be aware that in 2009 Samuel French closed its Toronto office. All plays must now be acquired from other retailers or ordered direct from their New York location. |

An excellent source for plays targetted at children's audiences and for those to be performed by young actors from ages 5 through to 18. It has a wide range of short and full length plays in the comedy, musical and drama categories. |
Dramatists Play Service

The second largest US-based source of plays in North America. Tends to have a more diverse range of less mainstream, independent and non-traditional plays than Samuel French but can be a bit more expensive as well. |
