Act One Performance Studio Facility Rental

Act One School of Drama in Pickering, Ontario provides training in acting for stage, film, music theatre Improvisation and more, including Theatre Summer Camps and a March Break Camp

While our performance space is an integral part of our class training programs, we also have the opportunity to make it available to other groups and organizations looking for an inexpensive, fully equipped, stage and performance space in the local Pickering-Ajax area. Our performance space can provide an intimate space for audiences ranging from 30 to over 100 patrons.

Our performance studio is suitable for and equipped to support a variety of activities and events such as:

Childrens' Theatre Productions

Community or other Local Independent Theatre Productions

Charity or other Fundraising Events

School or Organizational Talent Shows

Public or private meetings or presentations

Comedy, Improvisation and other entertainment events

New Play / Original Works development and workshopping space

Important Notice: Please be aware that due to insurance limitations we are unable to accept facility rentals for any event where patrons will not be seated during the majority of the event (ie. Rock band concerts or dance parties, etc). Musical performances that are part of events such as talent shows and fund raisers are exempt from the above. If in doubt, please call the school for clarification.

At the present time, our space is available for rent during the following times during the week:

Theatre Floor Plan:

Theatre Technician: Facility rentals include the availability of one on-site facility technician. In addition to their supervisory and maintenance roles, this person is available as a technical advisor and reference resource person with respect to the use of the facility and its equipment. Basic rental does not include or assume their direct involvement in a support or production role (ie. operating sound or light board during performance, creating or adjusting lighting design, etc). Should you require such assistance, Act One will be happy to arrange it for a reasonable additional fee.

Additional A/V and Other Equipment Requirements: Act One has relationships with a number of established and highly professional A/V, performance and other theatrical oragnizations. We can assist with the provisioning of many unique and specific requirements. Please be aware that these can require some lead time so if you do require our assistance, please advise us as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Refreshments: Act One permits users to offer or sell refreshments and minor snacks during their events. These can be made available in our reception area. Please be aware however that we have restrictions on what types of drinks and food can be consumed in the main studio. This is due to hygene and cleanliness requirements. Users can request this be waived by the provision of an additional damage deposit specifically posted in case of the need to arrange for professional cleaning of any food and drink spillage and staining.

Facility Rental Rates
Basic Rate/Hr:	Booking on a per hour basis	$35/hr
Evening Event Rate	4 or more hours on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday evening	$30/hr
Weekday Daytime event	Up to 8 hours between 7:00am and 4:30pm from Monday to Friday	$85/day
Multiple Day/Night Booking Rate	Booking 2 or more days or evenings of 4+hours each	Negotiable (depending on actual duration and event requirements)
Direct Technician Involvement	To authorize the on-site technician to provide additional set up and technical assistance during an event (Please note that this rate does not guarantee the technician will be 100% available to the producition. Their supervisory and maintenance responsibilities will still take priority)	$7.50/hr
Additional Dedicated Supporting Technician	This is the provision of an additional technician knowledgeable in the areas identified by the user. This person will be available 100% to the event during the contracted time period (Note: Maximum 8 hrs in one day)	$15-$30/hr (depending on skills required)
